Iron Railings and Handrails in Sacramento
Custom wrought iron stair railings, porch and balcony guardrails, and graspable handrails — fabricated in our own Sacramento shop and built to current building code.
A railing is the one piece of ironwork your hand touches every single day, so it has to be solid, safe, and finished cleanly. Iron-Caz Fencing builds custom iron railings and handrails for Sacramento homes and businesses — interior stair railings, front-porch and entry guardrails, second-story balcony rails, and the simple wall-mounted grab rails that make a couple of steps safe for everyone in the house.
Owner Daniel Hernandez Cazares and our crew measure on site, fabricate each rail to your exact rise and run in our shop on Auburn Blvd, then install it ourselves — no subcontractors. Every piece is welded steel, ground smooth at the joints, and finished in rust-resistant powder coat or galvanizing so it holds up through Sacramento's 100-degree summers and damp winters.

Code-Compliant Stair Railings and Graspable Handrails
Handrails and guardrails are governed by the California Residential Code, and a rail that looks great but fails inspection costs you twice. We build to the numbers that matter: a continuous graspable handrail at the right height, guardrails tall enough where there's a drop, and baluster spacing tight enough that a 4-inch sphere won't pass through.
If your project is being permitted or you're selling the house and an inspector flagged the stairs, we'll fabricate rails that meet the requirement and look like they belong on the home.
- Graspable handrail profiles sized for an adult hand, mounted at code height above the stair nosing
- Guardrail height correct for porches, landings, and elevated balconies
- Baluster/picket spacing under the 4-inch sphere rule to protect kids
- Continuous handrail runs with proper returns at the top and bottom of stairs
- Secure anchoring into wood, stucco, or concrete with the right fasteners
Stair, Porch, and Balcony Railings for Every Part of the Home
We handle railings inside and out. Interior stair railings can be clean and modern with horizontal lines or slim square balusters, or traditional with twisted pickets and spear, ball, or fleur-de-lis finials. Outside, porch and entry guardrails tie into your existing iron fence or gate so the whole property matches.
Short runs matter too — a two- or three-step entry often just needs one sturdy wall-mounted handrail, and we build those quickly and cleanly.
- Interior stair railings — modern horizontal, classic picket, or custom designs
- Front porch and entry-stoop guardrails and handrails
- Second-story balcony and deck railings
- Wall-mounted grab rails for short entry steps and ramps
- Designs matched to existing Iron-Caz fences, gates, and railings
Rust-Resistant Finishes and Railing Repair
Bare steel in the Sacramento Valley rusts — the summer heat and winter wet are hard on metal. We finish our railings with powder coat or hot-dip galvanizing so they shrug off weather and stay looking sharp for years instead of streaking rust down your stucco.
Already have an iron railing that's loose, rusted, or missing pickets? We repair and refinish existing railings too, whether we built them or not — re-welding cracked joints, re-anchoring wobbly posts, and recoating tired metal.
- Durable powder-coat finish in black, bronze, and other colors
- Hot-dip galvanizing for maximum outdoor rust protection
- Re-welding and re-anchoring of loose or wobbly existing rails
- Replacing damaged or missing pickets and finials
- Stripping and recoating rusted railings to restore them

Common questions
Do your handrails meet Sacramento building code?
Yes. We build to the California Residential Code requirements that apply to railings — graspable handrail profile and height, correct guardrail height, and baluster spacing that won't pass a 4-inch sphere. If your project is permitted or an inspector flagged your stairs, tell us and we'll fabricate to the requirement.
Can you build just one short handrail for my front steps?
Absolutely. A lot of our calls are exactly that — a sturdy, code-height grab rail for a two- or three-step entry. We measure, fabricate it in our shop, anchor it securely into wood, stucco, or concrete, and finish it to resist rust. Small jobs are welcome.
Modern or traditional — what styles do you offer?
Both. We do clean modern looks with horizontal lines or slim square balusters, and traditional wrought iron with twisted pickets and spear, ball, or fleur-de-lis finials. Because everything is custom-fabricated in-house, we can match an existing railing or design something new for your stairs, porch, or balcony.
Can you repair an existing iron railing instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. We re-weld cracked joints, re-anchor loose posts, replace missing pickets, and strip and recoat rusted metal — whether or not we originally built the railing. We'll take a look during the free on-site estimate and tell you honestly whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
